Quotes & Love Languages
Have you ever logged into facebook and old statuses of yours pop up? It has happened a lot recently and I’ve been trying to think of what I was going through to post these statuses, because most of them, well all of them are inspirational quotes. It’s like they’re coming back to haunt me. I cringe a little, but then I’m like “hmm, cute”. Ha ha.
I do love a quote, that’s no lie and when I was in school, I got bullied so I would put up quotes in my room to keep me going. I feel like they just helped me get through what I was going through, and at the time I definitely wasn’t talking about it.
Some of my favourites were and are:
“Fall down seven times, stand up eight”
“Just keep swimming”
“Comparison is the thief of joy”
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent”
There are so many and I don’t want to bore you and just have this blog post be a list of my favourite quotes, but those four are some good ones.
It got me thinking about love languages - words of affirmation, quality time, receiving gifts, physical touch and acts of service.
There are online tests you can do to find out what your love language is and I did it a few years ago with some friends and my top two were quality time and words of affirmation, and to this day that sounds about right. But also, I like a hug so I’d say touch is important too, but it depends on the situation and the person. Lol. I know people have their own love languages and have things that important to them, and I like hearing about them.
For me, if someone suggests a book for me to read or sends a new artist or song to listen to, you’ve pretty much got me there. And you know what’s a big one for me, consistency and making an effort.
I think words of affirmation are a huge part of who I am because I love writing and finding inspiration through words. I am hopeful my blog helps and inspires someone out there. I’m constantly speaking positive words to myself and I have my own little mantras that I like to say, either out loud or to myself.
In my room, I have a vision board sitting on top of my bookshelf and my bed is facing it, so I am able to see it. When I see positive words, it motivates me and lifts my mood, so wherever I can, I make sure to have them printed out and in a place where I can see them.
The ones I have up in my room right now are from Pinterest and they are:
Discipline & Consistency
I am rich in all aspects of life
Actually, life is beautiful and I have time
I create my own life
I am stepping into the most successful decade of my life
How we spend our days is of course how we spend our lives
And this one is a little longer. It says, “Everything in life starts with your mindset first and your actions second. Your actions follow your thoughts, your beliefs and ideas. To make a shift, to free your energy, start with getting your mind right, and then, take action.
If you’re like me and love your words of affirmation, and get inspired when reading a inspirational quote, I recommend printing some out and putting them in a place where you see them everyday. It can lift your mood and give you an extra push of motivation when you are feeling a bit flat.
I’m curious - What are your love languages? And do you have any quotes that keep you motivated?
